The girls love the zoo and anytime we can all go together it's a big treat. Usually it's just me schlepping them around in the triple and the big one can never get out of the buggy. However, when Daddy goes, it's a whole different ball game. One of the biggest draws is the duck pond. We call out for "swanny" loudly and with persistence: "Swanny! Where are you? Where are you, swanny? Oh, there you are." We just honk at the geese, who can be really pesty during nesting time (I lost a battle with a nest-sitter last March which is famous in the annals of zoo history). Since the kids have no concept of time, and New Year's is just another day, why not do what they enjoy? Even with Christmas colds, fresh air does wonders for growing brains.
